Aug. 16, 2023

Curious about the keynotes for the 2023 Stronger Together Conference? We're excited to showcase three amazing and accomplished speakers. Lucy Santos Green will be keynote for the Virtual Conference on November 3rd. Norah Marsh and David Perlich will be keynotes for the In-Person Stronger Together Conference on November 10th. Check out the speakers' impressive bios below!

Dr. Lucy Santos Green is the Director of the School of Library and Information Science, University of Iowa, co-editor of International Association of School Librarianship's peer-reviewed research journal, School Libraries Worldwide, and the 2023 incoming president of the Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE).

She is passionate about investigating school librarianship for marginalized populations (with a focus on first-generation immigrants and LGBTQIA+), instructional partnerships between school librarians and other educators, technology-integrated learning, and the design and development of digital learning environments.

Lucy frequently speaks on a variety of topics including research methods in school library research, online learning, instructional partnerships, school librarianship practices, and technology integration in both K-12 and higher education classrooms.

Norah Marsh has extensive experience working at the senior level in public education. She was the CEO of the Education Quality and Accountability Office, a provincial crown agency, and served as Director of Education for Durham District School Board in the Greater Toronto Area.

Her leadership is defined by her commitment to Indigenous and human rights and addressing systemic inequities. In 2023 Norah began her consulting and coaching practice, Marsh & McMahon Executive Consulting Services, where she works with senior leaders to improve workplace cultures, address policy gaps, and support environments where staff thrive.

Nationally and internationally, she has presented on various topics including equitable education, workplace well-being, change management, ethical and compassionate leadership, governance, and sound assessment practices.

Dave Perlich grew up on a farm near Coaldale, Alberta and got his start in journalism in 1986 with an article on free kittens for the local weekly newspaper. Since then, he’s worked in Belgium as the Managing Editor of the daily newspaper De Morgen and the Program Development Lead for BusinessAM radio.

He was a reporter during the Bosnian War, a Deputy Program Editor at Al Jazeera in Washington, D.C., and has worked for the CBC on and off for over 31 years, including as the CBC’s Vatican analyst. Dave wrote a book that no one read (thank God for deposit libraries) on the sociology of news in the internet age: ‘Stop de Persen’, as well as an accompanying documentary for the VRT Flemish Public Broadcaster. He worked with Athabasca University and Canadian Forces on CFB Wainwright during a Journalism in Conflict Zones program. He received his MA from Columbia University in NYC, where he wrote extensively on the contestation of information, and his partner says if Dave buys any more books, they’ll have to move.
