    • Part II: December 1, 10 am - noon
  • Budgeting Basics for Non-Profit Organizations Part I & II
    (deadline to register: November 14)
    • Part I: December 3, 10 am - noon
    • Part II: December 10, 10 am - noon

Certified Professional Bookkeeper – and Northern Lakes College instructor – Heather Lyon will present these webinars. We will be sending a poster out to each library to highlight the courses. Due to enhanced budgeting for training in 2014, PLS is able to offer the Northern Lakes College courses to you free of charge. We are treating this as a pilot run, and if it is successful, we will consider budgeting to extend the Northern Lakes College partnership into the future.

  • There is a maximum of 20 participants per course. Due to the cap, we may have to limit registration to two participants from each library (whether board or staff).
  • Board members and library staff are invited to take the courses.
  • Please register on our website and PLS will then forward your name and email to Northern Lakes College. They will then email you their link to finalize the registration.
  • Both parts (each part is two hours) are necessary to complete a course. Once you have registered, if you discover you cannot attend one of the parts of the course, you will have access through a personalized link to the recording of that part.
  • A certificate will be issued by Northern Lakes College upon completion.
  • Each person, whether staff or board, must register in order to have access to the recordings and to get the certificate.

Participate in Library Snapshot Day!

04 June 2014

What is Snapshot Day? Snapshot Day allows you to show your community what happens every day in your library. You will collect information, comments, stories, and photographs to capture a "snapshot" of a day in your library. How many people visit the library every day? How many reference questions are answered? How many programs are held? Not only will gathering stories and statistics on Snapshot Day show how much your library is visited and valued, but together, as a regional library system, we will combine our results to create a powerful advocacy tool that shows the impact of libraries on Albertans as places of learning and fun. Please choose a day before October 31, 2014 to be your library's "Snapshot Day."

Several regional library systems have participated in the past few years, including Chinook Arch, Parkland, Marigold and Northern Lights. The concept for Snapshot Day originated with the New Jersey State Library Association, and has spread throughout the U.S. and Canada. For more information and resources, go to the Snapshot Day page.
