B5: Rebuilding Slave Lake Library: Surviving Tragedy and Lessons Learned

The Rotary Club of Slave Lake Public Library was tragically destroyed by fire on May 15, 2011. What followed was a tremendous outpouring of support from libraries, publishers and individuals from across Canada and beyond. Join us for a panel discussion on the impact of the tragedy on Slave Lake library staff and trustees; the role of Peace Library System in coordinating donations and preparing a start-up library collection; and the support offered by the Public Library Services Branch to help the library rebuild. We will share the steps to recovery and lessons learned that might help other libraries prepare for disasters.
Audience: Trustees, Public Library Staff, School Library Staff
To be eligible for the early bird registration draw, please submit your registration form by June 30. The draw will take place at the conference during lunch on Thursday, September 22.
Registrations will be accepted until 4:30 pm on Friday, September 7.
