Keynote Speaker: Nancy Kindler
Change is inevitable, change in the workplace, change in technology, change in communication techniques, societal values and information at the speed of change. How capable are we of managing our emotional response to change? Nancy will share what happens to human beings when we experience significant change: the range of emotional responses, and our coping mechanisms to deal with change. We'll explore techniques and strategies to help us deal with constant change.

She has been speaking and training for 16 years and is a Past President of the Edmonton Chapter of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers. Her clients include small business owners, professionals from various industries and they describe her as loving and nurturing. The majority of her professional sales & marketing career was in Tourism, Hospitality and Agriculture. Her interaction with so many kinds of people has given her a unique understanding of human emotional response to change and a great belief in individual potential. She also loves libraries and librarians. |

Author Talk: Maureen Fergus
In addition to being a writer, Maureen Fergus is a business professional with a science degree and an MBA. She has written for magazines such as Today’s Parent, Chatelaine and Reader’s Digest. To date, she has published three novels for youth: Exploits of a Reluctant (But Extremely Goodlooking) Hero, Recipe for Disaster, and Ortega. Her first picture book is scheduled to be published in 2012. Maureen was born in Regina, grew up in Winnipeg, and lived in a number of other Canadian cities before eventually moving back to Winnipeg, where she currently resides with her husband and three young children.Maureen will be speaking from her experiences as a writer on the challenges of getting kids to read and explore the factors that influence the types of books that are being published for children today. Linda Shantz-Keresztes is the Past President of the Canadian Association for School Libraries and has over 30 years of teaching and school library experience with the Calgary Board of Education. Linda has developed quality school library programs and collections for meeting the diverse learning needs of K-12 students. Her professional background includes Library Collection Specialist, Teacher-Librarian Consultant, K-12 Teacher-Librarian, conference and workshop presenter. Linda is currently teaching the Library Assistants Course for Chinook Learning Services and is a committee member of the Alberta Education School Library Initiative. |
