Committee Mandates

Executive Committee

The Peace Library Board shall establish an Executive Committee to govern the System by establishing and monitoring the long-term direction of the System through policy development. The Executive Committee shall carry on the work of the Board at those times when the Board does not meet. It fulfills the function of the Board with full powers between Board meetings.

The Executive Committee is no more than 10 members when the number of members of the Board is more than 20. It consists of one member for any municipal jurisdiction serving a population in excess of 15,000 people, one member of the municipal library board of the Resource Centre, and seven additional representatives from the Board membership at large.

Personnel Committee

The Personnel Committee recommends policies on personnel to the Board, recommends a performance appraisal system for the Director, and renders a decision in the grievance procedure as outlined in the Personnel Policy. It consists of five members with a minimum of two of the five committee members coming from the Executive Committee.

Plan of Service Committee

The Plan of Service Committee recommends changes to the System's Bylaws and Policies or to the services offered by the System. It ensures that the System meets its legislative requirements as set out by the Libraries Regulation. The committee consists of five members with a minimum of two of the five committee members coming from the Executive Committee.

Ad Hoc Committees

Nomination Committee: responsible for preparing a slate of nominees for each vacant Executive Committee position and presenting its recommendations to the Annual General Meeting. This Committee consists of two Members appointed by the Board.
