December
- Postage Reimbursement for Public Libraries (posted December 1)
All public libraries that have outstanding ILL postage claims from 2010 must be received at headquarters no later than January 15 (as stated on the form). Any 2010 ILL postage claims received after that date will not be reimbursed.
- PLS Holiday Hours (posted December 1)
Peace Library System headquarters will be closed at noon on December 24 and will reopen at 8:00 am on January 4, 2011.

- Village of Donnelly Joins PLS (posted December 1)
Residents of the Village of Donnelly will soon be able to enjoy the benefits of belonging to Peace Library System (PLS). Donnelly is located in the MD of Smoky River, near the intersection of Highways 2 and 49, between Falher and McLennan. According to the census data from 2006, there are 293 residents. The Village of Donnelly is Peace Library System’s 38th municipal member.
There is no library in Donnelly, but residents will now qualify for a TRAC/TAL card and have access to over 2.6 million items through TRACpac, as well as other resources such as OverDrive.

- Excellence in Librarianship Award Winners Announced (posted October 4)
The Excellence in Librarianship award winners for school and public libraries were announced on September 30th at Peace Library System's Rural Libraries Conference. Susan Cloake-Millar from Peace River High School was presented with the the Excellence in School Librarianship award, and Janet Lemay from High Prairie Municipal Library received the Excellence in Public Librarianship award. Both were recognized for their demostrated excellence in library service and their commitment to their respective communities. Congratulations!

- New VDX Documents Available (posted August 30)
The VDX Manual has been updated to reflect the upgrades which took place this month. To download the new manual, as well as a glossary and instructions for pushing through idle requests and what to do with requests that have the end of rota status, please click here.
- Title Source 3 Step by Step Instructions (posted August 23)
Download the Step by Step Instructions to learn how to create carts, add items, and send in your carts. It also includes information on how to create an original entry for items not found in Title Source 3.
- RLC Session Cancelled (posted August 10)
Due to unforeseen circumstances, session D2 - "Boosting Your AV Collection: Tips on Selection, Organization and Circulation" has been cancelled. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
In its place, we are now offering: Website Wizardry with TownLife's Content Management System. PLS' Ryan Goff will teach member libraries how to get the most out of their TownLife websites with this hands on session. Please note: Attendance is limited to 18 participants.

- Red Earth Public Library Now Open! (posted August 10)
On Tuesday, August 3 Red Earth Public Library opened its doors to the public and is now fully circulating on TRACpac!
- Saddle Hills County Joins Peace Library System! (posted August 10)
In June 2010, Saddle Hills County officially became Peace Library System's 37th municipal member. PLS is excited to work with the Saddle Hills County Library Board to establish library services in Savanna, Woking and Bonanza.

- Important PLS Network Upgrades Require Your Immediate Attention (posted June 9)
You must edit your Polaris icon (on your desktop) so that your username is referring to PLS not TRAC. To accomplish this:
1. Right click on the Polaris icon and left click edit. In the pop-up that appears you will see TRAC\username.
2. Change this to PLS\username, and click SAVE.

- Peace River Municipal Library Temporary Closure (posted May 24)
Peace River Municipal Library will be moving to a temporary location at the Industrial Arts Building while the library is being
renovated. In order to move and pack, the library will be closed from May 16 to June 7 and interlibrary loans will not be filled until June 10.
- Manning Municipal Library Wins Award (posted May 15)
Lesley Spry-Shandro, library manager at the Manning Municipal Library, received the Excellence and Innovation in Public Library Service award from the Honourable Hector Goudreau, Minister of Municipal Affairs. The award was presented at the Alberta Library Conference in recognition of the library's impact and contributions to the community through their programs and dedicated service. Congratulations!
- Libraries Reopen (posted May 15)
DeBolt Public Library and La Glace Community Library have reopened and are once again processing holds and ILLs.
- OverDrive iPhone/iPod Touch Application Now Available (posted May 15)
This app enables wireless audiobook downloads (in MP3 format) on to your iPhone or iPod Touch. It is available for free from the iTunes store by searching for for "OverDrive Media Console." Please note: Once the OverDrive Media Console has downloaded, you will need to open up a webpage on your iPhone or iPod Touch and go to trac.lib.overdrive.com (a mobile-friendly page) to select and download your audiobook titles, which will then be able to play using the OverDrive Media Console.

- La Glace Community Library Temporary Closure (posted April 8)
La Glace Community Library will be closed from April 12 to April 26, 2010 to allow time to move into their new building. Their mailing address will not be changing. No item requests for La Glace will be filled during this period.
- DeBolt Public Library Closed for Renovations (posted April 8)
DeBolt Public Library closed for renovations on April 5, 2010. It is anticipated that the library will re-open on May 10, 2010. No item requests will be filled for DeBolt during this period.

- Birch Hills County Officially Joins PLS (posted March 11)
It’s official! Birch Hills County has joined Peace Library System effective March 1, 2010. The county is Peace Library System’s 36th municipal member, and we welcome Eaglesham Public Library and Tangent Community Library on board! Effective immediately, any Birch Hills resident that visits a PLS library is now eligible to receive a TRAC/TAL card. Also, libraries with existing Birch Hills patrons will have to update their status to indicate the type of patron (adult, child, etc.).
The libraries will be added to Polaris and system procedures as soon as possible, so please watch for more information as it becomes available.
- Email Migration (posted March 5)
PLS member emails have been moved from TELUS to TownLife. To access your new email you must go to: http://webmail.peacelibrarysystem.ab.ca.
If you have not already contacted PLS to obtain your new email password, please telephone us. If you are already accessing your new email, please let us know. Please check our website for current updates.
- TRACpac For iPhone and iPod Touch Now Live (March 5)
The new application for accessing TRACpac on your iPhone or iPod Touch is now available on iTunes free of charge. To see a demonstration of the application click here now.
